Last night was the first time Drake performed in Philly since he got into a beef with the city’s native son, Meek Mill. Nonetheless, Drake didn’t seem worried about being in Meek’s breeding grounds during his “Summer Sixteen” concert stop in the city. In fact, he took shots at Meek while in the MMG rapper’s hometown.
After dissing Meek with a performance of “Back to Back,” he addressed Meek directly afterwards, saying “And just remember, when you watch that video over and over tonight…It’s not about your city. I love your city. You did that shit to your motherfuckin’ self, boy.”
He also added some new “Back to Back” lyrics: “I did another one, I did another one,” he raps, before swapping in a new line: “I even did this shit in Philly, man I’ll never run.”

After the show, however, Meek’s crew reportedly showed up to confront him about it. In a series of posts on Instagram, a man who identified himself as being a Dreamchasers affiliate talked tough about going to the concert to see what Drake was all about. “I’ma let y’all niggas know right now, we 100, 200 deep,” he said in one IG video. “Dreamchasers, we gonna press this nigga Drake. He’s been disrespectful.”
Although they didn’t appear to be 100 deep, a group of guys were seen outside the concert gates at the Wells Fargo Center following the show. It’s not confirmed that they were officially affiliated with Meek, but in an IG video, they complained about the fact that Drake enlisted the protection of the police at the conclusion on the concert. “He got the police guarding him and he won’t come out,” the narrator of the video said. “They closed the gates up and all that.” The narrator also noted that Drake “sent J. Prince out here, talking to niggas, man. These niggas pussy.”
