Alabama Rapper Bam Bam Carter ID’d as Homicide Victim Found in Trunk of Burning Car

The charred body of a man found dead in the trunk of a car in the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Ala. has been identified as popular local rapper Bam Bam Carter, AL.com reports. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Paul Matthew Carter on yesterday (June 20).

Bryan Shelton, the victim’s body was discovered in the wee hours of Thursday, June 8 after Birmingham police and firefighters responded to a report of a car on fire ducked off an alley. After firefighters extinguished the car, they found the body in the trunk of the four-door vehicle.

Bam Bam’s body was so badly burned that he could only be identified through dental records.

AL.com also reports that those who knew Carter recognized his vehicle from that news and that the rapper had not been seen for days.  Meanwhile, fans and friends suspected online via his Facebook page that the body was most likely Carter’s.


Police have not made any arrests in connections to Carter’s death.

Last year, Bam Bam dropped album Street Educated 2: Touching Bases on the label Southern Kingz.

The last well-known Alabama rapper to lose his life to violence was Montgomery rapper Doe B, who was shot and killed on December 28, 2013 at the Centennial Bar and Grill in Montgomery.
