Harlem’s own A$AP Rocky features in Christian Dior SS17 menswear campaign, his second time since serving as the face for Dior’s FW16 collection. The “F*ckin Problem” rapper perfectly showcases a mash up of modern street wear elements and Dior’s posh “House spirit” to present a clean mix of urban and refined. Featuring alongside artists like Boy George, model Ernest Klimko, and actor Rami Male, the style maven’s influential confidence and unique fashion sense scores cool points for Dior Homme and helps solidify Rocky’s status as one of the flyest in the game.
For the collection, Dior features several black and white shots of A$AP in Paris, clad in ensembles that embody his grungy yet suave persona. He shows off his pretty boy steelo rocking a high collared dress shirt, a sporty trench with stripes down the side, and a pair of slim fit embroidered pants. Exuding effortless style he also models a pair of retro rounded shades and tailored blazer with side stripes before swapping them out for an embroidered denim jacket.
Dior’s creative director, Kris Van Assche, who is very fond of A$AP Rocky’s fashion sense, gave insight to fashion insider WWD on his choice to have Pretty Boy Flacko rep Dior, saying:
“I really like (A$AP Rocky’s) personal style and taste. He’s a real fashion lover. He feels like fashion really influences his own work, and he has strong opinions on that.”
A$AP Rocky’s personal style reflects a combination of high end and street elements much like the styles shown in Dior’s campaign.
High-impact contrasts like a tuxedo jackets paired with distressed rockstar jeans remind you of Rocky’s advanced fashion IQ and that he isn’t afraid to match up a simple sweatshirt with a daring pair of leather shorts just to throw off expectations.
Though his go-to is usually all black or black and white, the “Pretty Mutherf*cker” is not shy when it comes to a little flavor. Rocky frequently rocks all-over prints, splashing color into his looks to liven things up.
A$AP has been featured in Vogue Magazine with supermodel ex-girlfriend Chanel Iman and has posed for designer labels like Rick Owens and Hood by Air.
Songs like “Fashion Killa”, where he drops names from Prada to Tom Ford, glorify his knack for fashion and love for designer. Between his style, popular fashion label Vlone Apparel, and designer appearances, fashion is alway a topic of discussion for the young style icon.
