ASICS Takes a Stand Against Trump’s Muslim Ban

First Nike then Adidas and now ASICS has taken a stance against Donald Trump’s policies and Muslim ban. Today (Feb. 1), the company announced its political position via its social media platforms.

“ASICS remains steadfast in our belief that diversity in all its forms makes us better colleagues and a better company. We do not judge someone if their run is fast or slow or if their workout is hard or easy — and, we certainly will not judge anyone by where they are born or how they worship.”

Together, we are stronger. #ASICS

The President’s executive order temporarily blocks refugees in seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering United States borders after they have landed at U.S. airports, even if they had valid visas. The seven countries banned are Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.

Two federal judges issued stays of emergency Saturday night (Jan. 28) that temporarily blocks the Muslim ban.

Hours after the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups sued to halt Trump’s Jan. 27 order, a nationwide ruling from Judge Ann Donnelly of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York allowed immigrants who are already legally in the U.S. from being turned around.
A separate order in Alexandria, Va. forbid the government from deporting about 60 legal permanent residents of the U.S. who were being detained at Dulles International Airport.
Neither ruling will strike down the executive order, which will now be subject to court hearings.
