Big Boi released his third full-length solo album and first release for Epic Records today (June 13) called Boomiverse and takes fans on another futuristic funk Hip-Hop ride. Bomiverse features the hit singles and videos “Kill Jill” featuring Killer Mike and Jeezy and “Mic Jack” featuring Adam Levine.
The Outkast MC also trades verses with Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Curren$y, Adam Levine and the project features the late Pimp C.
Daddy Fat Saxxx’s last LP was his 2015 collaboration with Phantogram, Big Grams. Boomiverse will mark Big’s solo follow-up to 2012’s Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors.
He spoke to XXL about the project and revealed that Boomiverse is also a double album split into two-parts. He revealed,
“It’s not coming out at the same time. It’s coming in two waves. They have to work for that second part. I’m going to give them 12 songs then probably this time next year or it depends how I’m flowing this summer into Christmas, fans may get an early Christmas gift.”
As far as working with Pimp C on the track “In The South” with Gucci Mane, he added,
“My man Cory Mo, he produced for UGK. He had the record and he told me, “You got to get this record. Me and TM88 put something together.” [Cory Mo] told us, “I got an original Pimp C hook.” There’s another record that we did…Cory Mo has a lot of unreleased Pimp C stuff because they cut so many songs together. So I said, “Let me check it out,” and I came in and it was jamming. We had Gucci Mane come and laid his verse and we just finished it.
I got another record with Pimp C and Killer Mike it’s crazy. But that’s why I’m saying the album will be two parts. That shit hard as fuck, and it’s all original. It’s just carrying on the legacy. Pimp C was one of my idols and with the blessings from his wife and his kids and Bun B.
