Bigga Rankin Shares His Three Favorite Jamaican Spots

It’s more than evident that Jamaica-born, Chicago-raised DJ/promoter Bigga Rankin loves his West Indian culture. From his pronounced patios to the music to the dance, this urban gatekeeper has assimilated to many American norms while holding true to his Caribbean background. Perhaps nothing brings him back to the comforts of his homeland like the food. Be it brown stew fish, ox tails or jerk chicken, Bigga knows authentic Jamaican cuisine. And he shared three of his favorite Jamaican spots.

We had to speculate on his first choice. “It’s a restaurant on Cobb, near Windy Hill,” he said. “I forgot the name. I go there and eat all the time.”

So the closest restaurant that fits that description is Rodney’s Jamaican Soul Food.

“In Jacksonville, there’s a restaurant on Palmdale called Ballas,” he reveals. “I love it.”

And when he’s in the M-I-A, he has to go to Junies, “not because they filmed ‘Shottas’ there,” he laughs.
