Bobby Brown Leans on God After Judge Finds Nick Gordon Responsible for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Death

Every member of the families of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston believed all along that Nick Gordon was responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown in 2015. An Atlanta judge’s ruling now substantiates their beliefs.

As you may recall, Brown’s estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Gordon in August 2015, which alleged that Brown died following a violent altercation with Gordon after which he placed her face-down in a bathtub, unconscious. By the time she was found, she was already brain dead. She survived through the use of a ventilator for six months before the Brown family finally pulled the plug. Bobbi Kris never regained consciousness.

The $10 million lawsuit also claims that Gordon committed domestic abuse and made unauthorized money transfers amounting to $11,000 from Brown’s bank account into his own during her hospitalization. So it comes as no surprise that a Fulton County judge found Gordon legally responsible for Bobbi Kris’ death.

There are some stipulations to the case, which was scheduled to be heard in Atlanta’s Fulton County Superior Court last Friday, but Nick Gordon failed repeatedly to show up. Subsequently, after failing to appear for his scheduled court date, Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled that Nick Gordon is legally responsible for Bobbi Kris’ death.

Brown’s estate attorney R. David Ware is satisfied with the judgment.

“We have said all along that we believed that Nick Gordon was responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown,” he said outside the Fulton County Courthouse in downtown Atlanta after the ruling. “This judgement confirms our belief. Mr. Gordon had every opportunity to appear in court and attempt to clear his name. He declined.”

Bobbi Kris’ father, R&B singer Bobby Brown, issued a statement to People magazine after the ruling and says he now has some sort of closure.

“I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings,” he said. “All I ever wanted was answers relating to who and what caused my daughter’s death. Today’s judgement tells me it was Nick Gordon. Now I need to process all the emotions I have and lean on God to be me and my family through this.”

Thus far, Gordon has not been criminally charged with Bobbi Kristina’s death, which continues to mystify millions. She was found unconscious in January 2015 and was officially pronounced dead in June of that same year. A year later, the Fulton County District Attorney’s office has yet to either indict or clear Gordon of the charges.

A spokesperson for District Attorney Paul Howard’s office calls the investigation “still ongoing.”

“This won’t change anything in the criminal case. Generally speaking, it tends to the other way around: a criminal conviction is used in a civil case. Obviously, if he had taken the stand in a civil case, we could have used what he said. But that’s not what happened here. The case is still ongoing, but there are no new updates at this time.”
