Runway Richy has been given a second chance at life, and he’s looking to take advantage of it. Currently making it happen with his latest single, “Made It Happen” featuring Trae The Truth, the 27-year-old MC is grinding so 2017 will be his year.
Born in New Orleans and raised in Decatur, Ga., Runway started honing his rap skills as a youngster. But the allure of the street life kept him caught up in making fast money. Around 2013, the consequences of living the illegal life were starting to take their toll. So Richy tried rapping, putting his gritty life story on wax. In 2015, he dropped the mixtape Foreign Merican. He followed that up last year with China Cafeteria. The title is a shout out to a Decatur eating staple. The project featured production from popping beat makers Southside, Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, Fki and others.
Shortly after the release of the tape, Runway got into a near-fatal car crash that almost ended it all. He was ejected from the vehicle and had to spend months in the hospital learning how to walk again. The brush with death has him laser focused on his career.
He is currently prepping the release of China Cafeteria 2.5, which will feature the recently dropped single, “Switching Sides,” featuring fellow Zone 6 rapper, Gucci Mane. “I want to be known as somebody,” Richy recently told XXL. “If you search me, I’ve been putting in work for a minute. When I make it. I want people to feel my win with me.”
