Smokepurpp is one of the best things smoking out of the South Florida rap scene that has produced a lot of young emerging stars in the last couple of years.
It hasn’t taken the 19-year-old long to catch his wave. Last year, he made noise with the lit, trunk rattling street hits “WOKHARDT” and “Ski Mask.” The songs ended up raking in millions of streams on his SoundCloud page, which he parlayed into a sizable buzz in the Sunshine State and abroad.
Proving that his movement was no smokescreen, in March, he inked a deal with Todd Moskowitz’s new label, Alamo Records. Since then, he’s turned up dropping new bangers like “Woah,” produced by Southside and TM88, “Audio” and “Different Color Molly.” He also performed at the 2017 Rolling Loud Festival.
Now with a solid fanbase, Lil Purpp is prepping the release of his new mixtape, DEADSTAR. “On this project, I tried a lot of new different things and sounds,” Smokepurpp told The FADER. “DEADSTAR has no boundaries. I tried touching any sound I can touch, and I really don’t care how people feel about it cause I myself feel like I am the tape. The tape is really me.”
