Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, and DJ Khaled Lead the 2017 BET Hip Hop Award Nominations

The nominations for the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards have been announced and Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, and DJ Khaled lead the pack with a total of 9 nominations each.

Kendrick and Khaled will go head to head in the Album of the Year category along with Future, J.Cole, Jay Z, and Migos while Cardi B will go against Aminé, Kodak Black, Playboi Carti, and Tee Grizzley for Best New Hip Hop Artist. Among other Hip Hop heavyweights that are nominated this year, veteran emcee Jay Z was able to snag 5 nominations that include Lyricist of the Year where he will be up against Chicago’s hometown hero Chance The Rapper who also scored 5 nominations.

The 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards is scheduled to take place in Miami, FL on Oct. 6 and will air on Oct. 10. With the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in the Miami area, BET’s Connie Orlando released a statement regarding the event.  “While BET is extremely excited to bring the BET Hip Hop Awards to Miami, we remain sensitive to the millions of victims affected by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey,” she states.
