Chance The Rapper Creatively Rips All Record Labels [Watch]

Chance The Rapper is mixing things up at his recent show that kicks off his “Be Encouraged Tour”.

During his stop at San Diego’s Valley View Casino, Chance took the opportunity to not only remind fans that he is a successful independent artist, but also that he doesn’t rock with the major labels. While performing “No Problems”,  Chance used the stage to drag Sony, Warner, Motown, Atlantic, Def Jam, Virgin Records and Universal, renaming them Phony”, “Don’t Join Recordings”, “Villain”, “Can’t Do Math”, “A Titanic”, “No Crown”, “Eclick”, and “Universe.”

During Chano’s production, he was backed by a giant video screen that flashed the new label signage. Sony turned into Phony, Def Jam Recordings to Don’t Join Recordings, Aftermath Entertainment to Can’t Do Math Entertainment, Warner Music Group to Wiener Music Group, Virgin to Villain, Motown to No Crown, Epic to Edick and Universal to Undiverse.

All this while tauntingly showing off the three Grammys he won this year for Best New Artist, Best New Album for Coloring Book and Best Performance for “No Problem,” which featured his buddies 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. Those are three awards Chance wouldn’t have been able to win if the Recording Academy hadn’t changed its rules to allow streaming-only titles to be counted for nomination.

It’s no secret that the Chi-town bred emcee is still turning down deals and slamming the doors in record labels’ faces all to remain independent. Chance has also previously expressed disdain for the labels due to what he accuses is them trying to sabotage him in anyway that they can behind the scenes due to his lack of interest to be signed.
