Chance the Rapper Performs Dope ‘Tiny Desk’ Concert [Watch]

Chicago’s hometown hero Chance The Rapper recently stopped by NPR’s offices in Washington, D.C to perform in their “Tiny Desk” Series.

The popular NPR program is hosted by Bob Boilen and featured intimate performances recorded live at his desk. Chance made a surprise visit with his band The Social Experiment and rocked a set that included “Juke Jam” off his Grammy award winning mixtape, Coloring Book.

Switching gears a bit, Chance also took the opportunity to recite a poem called “The Other Side” that he had wrote on his way to NPR’s office. “Coming on here, being a big deal, I wanted to try and do something new,” he says. Following the poem, Chance and his band performed a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “They Won’t Go When I Go” off Wonder’s 1974 album Fulfillingness’ First Finale.

As a fan of the “Tiny Desk” series, Chance made sure to stop in while currently touring across the country. Chance returns to his hometown of Chicago in August to headline the Lollapalooza festival. The love Chance has for Chicago is all throughout his music and humanitarian efforts. He’s raised millions of dollars for Chicago Public Schools and recently became the youngest person to be awarded the Humanitarian of the Year at the BET Awards in June. With all the moves that Chance The Rapper is making, intimate performances like these are always refreshing to see.
