While America mourns the end of Barack Obama’s presidency, Chance the Rapper has found a way to celebrate the coolest president’s tenure with a new clothing line.
#ThankUObama is the new collaboration project with Joe Freshgoods to “timestamp” a moment in time that was very inspirational to everyone, especially those in the black and brown communities. On the website, Joefreshgoods reminisces back to the night when the world found out that America had just elected the first Black president.
“With this project, I wanted to timestamp a period in my life where I felt like I can do whatever I wanted to do and be whatever I wanted to be. The night Obama won his first term gave me so much hope, especially & most importantly as a black man. I decided to make a collection saying “thank you” and give me something to smile at every now and then when i look in the closet.”
Chance followed up the sentiments of the project origin by tweeting out pictures of himself modeling the gear with the caption “I’m a model now. #ThankUObama droppin in like 15 minutes. ThankUObama.us.” The collection includes t-shirts, jerseys, hoodies and jackets, all paying homage to the Obama family. Chance teamed up with Fat Tiger Works in Chicago to provide the pieces which launched January 20.

In addition to the pieces that show tribute to the former first family, one t-shirt in particular is getting a lot of attention for it’s special message to the Obama’s eldest daughter, Malia.
