Charlamagne tha God took the airwaves Friday morning (March 3) to bestow Nicki Minaj with the Donkey of the Day for not replying to neither Remy Ma’s “ShEther” or “Another One” diss records.
The radio personality said that by Nicki not replying, she is not only making herself look bad but also a long line of battle rappers from Minaj’s Queens breeding grounds.
“Nicki Minaj is running the risk of being the first rapper from Queens that I can remember… that backs down from a rap battle?” the radio personality rhetorically asked. “Rappers from Queens win or lose have been involved in some of the most epic rap battles in hip-hop history.
He explains, “Nicki Minaj, if you don’t reply, you let MC Shan down. You let Nas down. You let Prodigy from Mobb Deep down. You let 50 Cent down. You let LL Cool J down. You let Ja Rule down….Nicki got his twice and has yet to clap back. Period. That’s not the Queens way.”
Now, just in case you haven’t been keeping up, Remy tore Nicki a new one last week with the release of seven-minute track “ShEther.”
Remy came right back days later and added a few more bars in a freestyle during a concert stop in Reading, PA. Hitting the stage during a spot date on The LOX’s Filthy America…It’s Beautiful tour, Ma performed her Barbie Killing track and showed off her skills with a freestyle directed at her former protegé, spitting,
“Why bitches got fat while we starved/ Shots in your ass, pads in your bras/ Ya’ some liars, it ain’t no facts in your songs/ And yeah that crown is coming back to the Bronx.”
Bringing more terror, Remy also sent warning shots with,
“You the biggest bird on Sesame Street/ And I’ma scramble your eggs if you keep running your beak.”
The femme fatale also shared the stage with Lil Kim and Cardi B during the stop. In addiction, Lil Kim let the world know she was riding with Remy and shouted out her fellow female MCs, stating,
“I wanna give a shout-out first of all, let me give a shout-out to my beautiful sisters that was on this stage earlier. Cardi B. That’s my baby. I just seen her backstage. Remy, bitch, I fucking love your ass. That’s my baby. Let me tell y’all. Maybe y’all might see something in the future. Another ‘Ladies Night’ – we might be due for that.”
Then just yesterday, Remy hit her again with “Another One” before Nicki could even respond. The track which premiered Funkmaster Flex‘s show on Hot 97, Remy opens the track with vocals from another foe of Nicki’s, Mariah Carey, before going in verbally and taking shots at Nicki for her lack of response. Mimicking Drake’s flow on his major lyrical slap heard around the world, “Back 2 Back”, in the process.
“Waited four days, ma, where you been?/ I came here in the ‘Rari playin’ Little Kim/ Don’t know what made you think that you could fuck with Rem/ But I guess this is what I gotta do to make ya spit”
Aside from a few social media posts pointing out her crowning as the “Queen of Hip Hop” by Beyonce and the blurb talking about Remy’s lackluster sales for “Plata-O-Plomo” and liking supportive comments, Nicki has remained silent.
