Common Talks About Being Molested As a Child

In his efforts to help victims of molestation, Common reveals that he was molested as a child in newly released memoir Let Love Have the Last Word: A Memoir.

TMZ caught up with the Chicago rapper in New York and asked him about the courage it took to go through the abuse.

“This whole book is actually me telling different things that I’ve experienced in life. So hopefully people can open up about whatever they may have experienced in life,” he says. “I’m telling what I feel and the experiences I’ve had and ways that I’ve dealt with it. And I want people to know that it’s a safe place to be able to talk about things you go through. Everybody don’t go through exactly the same thing, but we all go through some things… It’s something that I know a lot of people experience, especially young black men.”
