Damien and Stephen Marley Give a New Smokers Anthem With “Medication” [Listen]

Medication

After announcing the release date to his forthcoming album, Damien Marley teams up with his brother Stephen to drop a tough anthem for the real weed smokers titled, “Medication”.

The legendary Marley brothers spit a groovy and melodic ode to Mary Jane that also carries a lot of substance, as he spits about the benefits of growing chemical free marijuana and its well-documented healing capabilities. The song, which dropped April 20, was released in preparation for fans at the High Times Magazine + TIDAL X 420 Celebration, which Marley hosted in California.

Before the release of the single, Marley also announced the release of his long-awaited album Stony Hill. While the album’s artwork and official track list has yet to be revealed, Marley did let fans know that previously released songs including  “Bitter Blood”, “Caution”, “Everybody Wants To Be Somebody”, “Here I Come Again”, and  “Livin’ It Up” among many others will be included on the 18 track album. Heavy on the content but light on the features, Stony Hill is slated to feature only two appearances by Stephen Marley and Major Myjah, the son of the legendary Bounty Killer.

Marley has proven himself to be a champion of Marijuana over the years. According to published reports, Marley reportedly converted a 77,000-foot prison into a weed farm last year, joining forces with herb manufacture Ocean Grown Extracts to not only capitalize on the high demand for marijuana but to also help provide jobs and generated millions of dollars in tax revenue for the California neighborhood of Coalinga.

In an interview with Billboard, Marley spoke about the sheer irony in people being imprisoned over the years for marijuana, which ultimately make his vision successful.

“Many people sacrificed so much for the herb over the years who got locked up,” said Marley “If this [venture] helps people and it’s used for medicinal purposes and inspires people, it’s a success.”

Stony Hill is scheduled to release on July 21 to celebrate Marley’s 39th birthday.
