Diddy Talks Suge Knight’s Infamous 1995 Source Awards Speech with Drink Champs [Watch]

The Death Row and Bad Boy beef is forever known as the turning point in Hip-Hop and is forever solidified in history as beginning at the 1995 Source Awards, but recently Diddy sat down to shed light on how the beef actually went down and who Suge Knight was addressing in the now infamous acceptance speech was about.

In an interview with NORE and DJ EFN‘s “Drink Champs” show on Revolt TV, Diddy explained that he was shocked when the speech was initially made due to being friends with Suge Knight.

“It was crazy to me because me and dude was friends”, Diddy said. “When I used to go out to LA before everything happened he used to pick me u from the airport and hang out with me, so I was shocked when he said it on stage and truth is there were a lot of people that were there that night that was ready to take things in a different way, all I had to do was give the word.

Diddy also revealed that when he talked to Suge about the speech at New York’s legendary Tunnel nightclub, that Suge revealed that the speech wasn’t about him, but Jermaine Dupri.

“I walked up to him at The Tunnel at the after party, and asked him what the speech was about, he told me at the time that he wasn’t talking about me and that it was Jermaine Dupri”, Diddy continued. “At that point, I was scared, because the wolves that were with me were real life wolves and I didn’t get into this to hurt anybody; I’m from Harlem, I just wanted people to dance.”
