Drake is making headlines and it’s not just for music.
The OVO head honcho was spotted over the weekend trying on his new chain, which is being reported by TMZ as being worth more than $100,000.
The chain, made by celebrity jeweler Ben Baller, is made from almost a kilo of gold and is adorned with black, green and yellow diamonds. In a video posted to Baller’s Instagram shows the chain sparkling as it’s removed from its packaging with a caption detailing the history of he and Drake’s relationship.
“I met @champagnepapi at the Apple Store in the Beverly center in 2008. From that day on I fucked with The Boy heavy. I was picking him up from the airport, getting him cars, trees and showing him my city like a real big homie does. #SoFarGone dropped and shit hit the fan. Then #ThankMeLater, then #TakeCare and He would take me on tour to be a part of the show giving out chains to random girls in the audience. One time at a sold out show in San Jose, Drake forgot where we were because he screamed out ‘LA what’s good???!!!!’”
Drake also took to his Instagram account donning the amazing piece, shouting out friends but also showing that he can still be petty while giving his take on Cee-lo Green‘s Grammy ensemble.
If Drake wasn’t celebrating he had a reason too, at least from his fans standpoint. Monday (Feb. 13) marked the eight year anniversary of the release of his 2009 mixtape So Far Gone and many fans took to Twitter to celebrate the tape that produced the smash singles “Successful” with Trey Songz and Lil Wayne, “Uptown” with Bun B and Tunechi and of course “Best I Ever Had.”

In regards to the release his upcoming project, More Life, Drizzy told fans while on tour in Leeds on his “Boy Meets World Tour,” it’s close to completion.
“I’m excited because I’m about like a week-and-a-half [to] two weeks away from finishing this project I’m working on called More Life,” he said. “So you know what that means, right? All that means is, I get to drop a new project, and at some point, I get to come back and be with my people in Leeds one more motherfuckin’ time.”
