Drake’s 8th annual OVO Fest was full of surprises both on stage and announcements.star-studded surprises but perhaps the biggest one came when he brought out fellow Canadian superstar, The Weeknd, to join him on stage.
Drizzy kicked off the star-studded weekend with hits after hits but it wasn’t until he brought fellow Canadian superstar, The Weeknd, to join him on stage that fans received more info about Drizzy’s upcoming project.
“I want you to understand what this is,” Drake said. “First of all, I don’t want to do this to you on stage, but I feel like that OVOXO project has to happen at some point. I just want to say that.”
After the incredulous announcement, The Weeknd ran through his hits “Starboy,” “The Hills,” and his 2011 collaborative track with Drake, “Crew Love.” Although Drake put him on the spot, The Weeknd has previously said that he’s down to do a joint project with Drizzy.
“It’s cool to have both monsters work together as opposed to one monster and one little guy coming in… It’s dope, like Kanye and Jay Z when [Watch the Throne] happened,” The Weeknd said in a 2016 interview with Zane Lowe about the possibility of a collaborate project.
