80’s TV Dad and father of soul singer Robin Thicke, Alan Thicke, has passed away at the age of 69.
According to TMZ, Thicke was playing a game of hockey with his son Carter when he started having chest pains. After being transported to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center around noon today, Thicke was pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack.
In an exclusive statement to the LA Times, Robin Thicke on Tuesday evening, who called his father “the greatest man I ever met.”
“The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure,” Robin Thicke said in the statement. “I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him.”
As the news of his passing hit, celebrities took to Twitter to share their condolences.

A songwriter and producer during his career in addition to being an actor and presenter, Robin Thicke credits his dad for being a major support system of his music career. The Canadian-born Alan Thicke had continued to appear in TV roles up through this year, including recent appearances on NBC’s drama “This Is Us” and Netflix’s “Fuller House.”
