Lil Kim has been slaying fashion while murdering the mic for years.

From introducing bright colored wigs and Versace one pieces to her iconic bikini poster that was plastered on the wall of every young man in the 90s, Lil Kim is the definition of iconic. The Brooklyn-bred MC birthed a generation of female emcees who incorporated sexiness while delivering lethal flows. Kim’s fearless, edgy fashion styles throughout the years has undoubtedly influenced a lot of today’s styles and trends.

In honor of her birthday, GRIP Magazine has taken a look back at Kimmy Blanco’s top 5 Queen Bee moments that broke the mold.

1.  “Crush on You”

Lil’ Kim made the world stop when she appeared in the 1995 video for Junior Mafia‘s smash hit, “Crush on You,” donning multi-colored wigs and high-end outfits to match, but nothing stopped the show faster than her red fur and bikini combo.

2. “No Time” feat. Puff Daddy

When Lil’ set out to drop her solo record, we expected to hear some dope rhymes, but the Brooklyn laced rhymes paired with her lavish taste made her an instant superstar.

3.  The 1999 MTV Video Music Awards

Lil Kim attended the VMAs in a dazzling Versace jumpsuit with her left breast covered in just a pasty. The daring move garnered the attention of the world, including Black Music icon Diana Ross, who got a hand full on national television.

4. “Quiet Storm” Mobb Deep feat. Lil Kim

Despite appearing on a track with two of the most gully MCs in the game, Lil Kim held her own spitting hot flows while sporting a calf long mane and an ensemble that made every hood cat’s heart stop.

5. “All About the Benjamins”

Who can take over an entire summer with just one verse, Lil Kim that’s who. Her verse on the Puff Daddy and the Family collab track scorched her counterparts coming second to only Big Poppa himself. Her verse was so impactful that it solidified her Queen Bee status and shut down naysayers who accused Kim of regurgitating rhymes written by her label mate and then boyfriend the Notorious B.I.G.

Happy Birthday Lil Kim, thanks for making such an impact!
