See What Hip-Hop Stars Are Nominated for 2017 Emmy Awards

Emmy Awards

It’s that time of year again. The 2017 Emmy Award nominations have officially been announced. An Emmy Award recognizes excellence in the television industry. Some of our favorite Hip-Hop stars, who are usually nominated for Grammys for their musical talents, have been getting the recognition they deserve for their television contributions as well. This year, Chance The Rapper, Common, LL Cool J, and Snoop Dogg have all been nominated Emmy Awards.

Chance The Rapper
The Chicago emcee has had a great year. Earlier this year, Chance took home four Grammy awards, including Best New Artist. Chance has been named in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category for his “Last Christmas” song from his appearance on Saturday Night Live!

Common
Common is no stranger to the television and film sides of things. The rapper and frequent actor has a long list of film work on his resume. Just like Chance The Rapper, Common is nominated in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category as well. The nomination comes for his song, “Letter to the Free.” The song was featured in Ava DuVernay’s 13th documentary.

Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dogg has been releasing new music back to back. Definitely keeping his fans satisfied. Back in 2016, Hip-Hop veteran Snoop Dogg, decided to jump on the tv screen as well as in the kitchen to team up with Martha Stewart for Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. The show is nominated in the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-competition Program category.

LL Cool J
LL Cool J is no stranger to prestigious award shows. He has hosted his share. The Queens rapper’s role as a producer of Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle has earned him a nomination for Outstanding Structured Reality Program.

The 2017 Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on Sept. 17 at 8 pm EST. Be sure to tune in.
