Irv Gotti to Relaunch Murder Inc.

Between Ja Rule, Ashanti and Lloyd, Murder Inc. Records was a hit factory in the early 2000s. Now after about a decade since dropping some of that R&B-tinged hip-hop heat, the label founder Irv Gotti recently revealed his plans to relaunch the label with a brand new roster of artists.

The Queens, NY-born entrepreneur took to Instagram to share the news. “Oh and by the way!! I’m about to RE LAUNCH MURDER INC RECORDS!!,” he captioned a bold picture of the label’s logo. “I got some new artist. New music. Same fucking MOVEMENT! The Worlds Most Talented Record Label. Everyone had a lot of fun.”

He also addressed the 2003 raid on the Manhattan offices of Murder, Inc., resulting Gotti and his brother being charged with money laundering with alleged financial transactions associated with New York City drug kingpin Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff. Although a jury acquitted the brothers of all charges on December 2, 2005, the label subsequently suffered.

“Everyone had a lot of fun. While I had to re group from the Feds coming after me,” he wrote.
