The 2017 Met Gala took place last night in New York City and it brought out the best in avant-garde fashion, but no one came more eclectic than Jaden Smith.
While most of the stars to walk the red carpet caught all of the photographers’ attention with their long gowns and fitted suits, Jaden captivated the crowd in a very different way after he appeared on the red carpet showcasing his short new haircut while holding his recently cut dreads in his hands.
During an interview with Vogue, Smith revealed his reasoning to Andre Leon Talley, “Since I couldn’t bring my sister as a date. I brought my old hair.” To which Talley labeled his look “cool” and “avant-garde.”
As vague and strange as that explanation seems, it’s a very Jaden response. This is definitely a look only Jaden Smith could make look cool, and he did. Check out Jaden and his unique date dancing for Vogue below.
