Janet Jackson Teaming Up with Netflix for New Series About Divorce and Motherhood [Watch]

Janet Jackson is known for being incredibly private when it comes to her personal life but looks like she’s having a change of heart with her latest venture.

According to published reports, Ms. Jackson is in talks with Netflix to do produce a documentary series about her life after her divorce and motherhood.

Although Jackson has been keeping a low profile since the split from Wissam Al Mana in April, a source told The Sun that she is ready to put herself out there: “Janet has been fiercely private about her life in the past but feels the need to keep her fans in the loop with what life has been like since she went into hiatus ten years ago. The show will run as a ten-part documentary and will feature recording sessions in the studio, co-parenting her child with Wissam and preparing for the European and Asian legs of her tour. Netflix [is] negotiating a big sum for the rights to the show as they expect it to perform well.”

Earlier this month, Jackson announced that her State of the World tour is now resuming.

“Hey you guys, it’s me Jan, just in case you didn’t recognize me because I have put on quite a few since I had the baby. I thank God for him, you guys. He’s so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving, such a happy baby. Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God’s hands,” she said in a Twitter video, adding, “It’s not about politics. It’s about people, the world, relationships and just love.”

In a heartfelt video, Jackson addressed the music hiatus and revealed how she was feeling amid reports that she is divorcing her husband, even poking fun at her weight gain due to pregnancy.

“Hey guys, it’s me Jan. Just in case you don’t recognize me ‘cuz I have put on quite a few since I had the baby, but I thank God for him you guys, he’s so healthy,” Jackson said. “I’m going to keep it real with you guys for a second: yes, I separated from my husband, we are in court and the rest is in God’s hands. I’m continuing my tour as I promised. I decided to change the name of the tour – State of the World Tour.”

The State of the World tour is set for a 56-city run beginning Sept. 7, in Lafayette, Louisiana at the Cajundome and set to end in Atlanta on Dec. 17.
