Some of the dopest emcees that the Big Apple has to offer joined Jay-Z on stage during the re-opening of the iconic Webster Hall yesterday. Jigga performed cuts for his “B Sides 2” concert backed by a live band and cameo performances from New York brethren Nas, Cam’ron and Jim Jones.
During the set, Hov ran down a bevy of fan favorites. He also spat a freestyle addressing the life and legacy of Nipsey Hussle, who was killed last month.
“Gentrify your own hood before the people do it/Play imminent domain and have your people moving/That’s a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing/To anybody still confused as to what he was doing,” Jay rapped. “The neighborhood designed to keep us trapped/They redlined it so property declines if you live by Blacks/They depress the asset and take the property back/A ruthless but ingenious plan in fact.”
Jigga also brought out Nas to perform “The World Is Yours” before diving into “Dead Presidents II.” Mr. Carter closed the show with Cam performing “Welcome To New York” before Jim Jones joining them on stage for “I Really Mean It.”

Tickets sold for up to $1,000 to see the legends perform in the venue, which announced earlier this year that it would reopen in the spring after shutting down for temporarily for renovations.
