Jeezy Sued for Concert No-Show, Stiffs Promoter for $30,000 Deposit

A Houston promoter filed a civil suit against Jeezy, claiming the Atlanta rapper pocketed a $30,000 deposit for a concert but never showed up for the show. According to the Houston Chronicle, Darryl Austin filed a civil suit against Jeezy, Sammy Mumphery and YJ Productions and Concerts on Feb. 8.

According to the civil lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Houston, Jeezy (nee Jay Jenkins) agreed to a one-hour concert on Dec. 9 at The Arena Theatre. He was allegedly paid half of the $60,000 concert fee.

As reported, negotiations for the concert began in October, when Austin gave Jenkins half at the fee, including a $20,000 direct deposit into his checking account.

In November, the rapper notified Austin through a representative that he didn’t want to perform at The Arena, the complaint states. At that point, more than 1,000 tickets had been sold, according to court documents.

Austin is seeking at least $100,000 in breach-of-contract damages and return of the $30,000 deposit.
