John Witherspoon Confirms Another ‘Friday’ Movie

It’s been 15 long years since we’ve been blessed with another Friday sequel. And hopefully, fans of the movie franchise won’t have to wait much longer. John Witherspoon, who played Ice Cube’s father, confirmed earlier today (April 21) that another sequel is on the way during a visit to Orlando, Fla.’s Power 95.3 radio station.

“I was at the airport and I saw Ice Cube. Cube said he wants to do another Friday,” Witherspoon said. “He said he wants to meet with me last week–this week, but he couldn’t make it, but we’re going to meet next week to get things together.”

After the announcement, the actor yells to other radio personalities in the video, thanking the “new guy at Warner Bros.” for making the long-awaited movie happen.

Before Cube goes back to being “Craig” on the big screen, however, he has some unfinished business after teaming up with Disney Studios to star as Fagin as well as slated to write the screenplay for the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ 1838 novel Oliver Twist, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Oliver Twist is one of Dickens’ most famous works, which tells the tale of an orphan boy. Fagin is the old man who teaches the gang of starving kids in London the art of survival in the streets. His most popular song in the musical is “You’ve Got To Pick A Pocket Or Two.” Picture the man who once “went to the shelf and dusted off the AK” singing survival tactics in a British accent.
