Juicy J – Must Be Nice [Mixtape]

Juicy J has been a relevant fixture in hip hop longer than a lot of these rappers have even been alive. From slanging mixtapes with longtime rhyme/production/business partner DJ Paul in the 1990s to racking up gold albums as co-head honcho of Three 6 Mafia and becoming the first rap group to bring home an Academy Award, the game has definitely been good to Jordan Michael Houston.

His latest mixtape Must Be Nice is testament to his longstanding success in a fickle music industry. From the very start, the Juice Man shows why he’s been around for so long: because he appeals to the Now Generation of rap fans while still holding down his Memphis roots.

On mixtape intro “Trap” featuring Gucci Mane and Atlanta newcomer PeeWee LongWay; hypnotic, euphoria-inducing “LIT” featuring Young Dolph and 21 Savage; and choppy rhyme-laden junt “Lotto,” Juicy shows his ability to adapt to the times. But then, he reverts to the days of Three 6 on nostalgic tracks like “Super Fire,” “What I Call It” and the morbid, mid-tempo “Talk That Talk” featuring Wiz Khalifa and Project Pat.

Being amongst the very few artists (and mixtapes) with the ability to bridge a 20-year gap in rap music, Juicy J’s Must Be Nice can bang in both old school Cutlasses and year-model Benzes.
