After spending the past few days in the hospital following the cancellation of the Saint Pablo Tour, TMZ reports from “sources close to Kim and Kanye” that West had been suffering from paranoia and profound depression “for a long time.”
It was initially reported that the Chicago rapper was hospitalized on Monday at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles due to sleep deprivation and dehydration. Then on Thursday, it was reported by Entertainment Tonight that his condition was worse than previously expected and due to psychological problems which are “a combination of a lot of issues: stress, anxiety, paranoia. He just broke…There have been signs recently of him just overwhelmed. Kanye hasn’t been himself for a while.”
Without question, Ye has been unraveling for some time now. Back in October, he blasted Jay-Z in one of his infamous rants during a concert in Seattle for him and Hov not appeaing on Drake’s song “Pop Style” off Views.
Ye explained to the packed house: “And let me tell y’all something. There will never be a Watch The Throne 2… You know why… that’s the reason I wasn’t on the song. I wasn’t on the song because of Hov, because of some TIDAL/ Apple bullshit… And this shit be getting me tight every time I perform this motherfucker. See y’all ain’t get what y’all was supposed to get with me and Drake on this song because of some Tidal/Apple bullshit.”
Later that month, Yeezy announced during a show at Oakland’s Oracle Arena that he will not be at attendance at the Grammys in February if Frank Ocean is not nominated.
“The album I listen to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album,” he says in a clip from the show. “If his album is not nominated in no categories, I’m not coming to the Grammys. As artists we gotta come together.”
Then one day after announcing the cancellation of his Saint Pablo Tour, he was admitted in the hospital, where he has been since.
