That time of year is again nearing and GQ gives us an unexpected bringer of Christmas gear, Kendrick Lamar. He graces the cover of the coveted men’s Style magazine in their first-ever holiday issue featuring fashion’s most luxurious and expensive coats to usher in the new season.
GQ’s fairly-new Style publication focuses on the highest in fashion and luxury so its only right they feature the usually-paired-down rapper in the most extravagant outerwear for the season. He dons rich fur and leather coats from million-dollar fashion labels like Prada and Burberry and completed looks with garments from Ferragamo, Tom Ford and accessories from David Yurman.
The cover features Lamar rocking a full fur Michael Kors coat and the spread pictures him in luxe looks including a Gucci embroidered peacoat and shearling made-to-order coat by Dolce & Gabbana.
Kendrick’s cover story also includes is his meeting with legendary producer Rick Rubin at Rubin’s Shangri La Studios in Malibu for a one-on-one interview about his life and career. During the interview they touch on albums like To Pimp a Butterfly, hit songs like “Alright” and ideas he has for future projects. The Good Kid M.A.A.d. City artist gave insight on what inspires him as a musician speaking on influences from Eminem to 80’s West Coast rap and jazz music. They end the meeting on a creative note with a run in the studio.
