It is still unclear why bond was denied for Kevin Gates during a bond hearing earlier today (April 19) at the Bridgeview Courthouse in Illinois, TMZ reports. But according to the presiding judge, the Baton Rogue rapper will remain behind bars at the Kendall County, Illinois jail just a little while longer.

As previously reported, Gates was extradited to to Cook County, Ill. last month after serving a 180-day sentence in Florida for battery after kicking a female fan during a 2014 concert after she tugged at his shorts. He now faces weapons-related charges. According to TMZ,  Mr. “I Don’t Get Tired” was re-arrested just as authorities were about to release him from jail.

According to previous reports, Gates’ rap sheet includes “several gun charges from 2013 in Illinois, including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.” A spokesman for the Cook County State Attorney’s Office said that he is due in court on those charges on Sept. 22.

Even while on lock, he managed to drop brand new single “What If” two weeks ago. On the heated track, he spits:

“Making calls to the plug/ I fell off then got up/ I’m standing tall no matter what/ Real nigga never budge/ Thinking y’all shall not judge when I stood in front the judge/ Media they telling lies about me that don’t matter much/ Hey now, turn it up.”

Kevin’s wife Dreka spoke to his fans on Instagram and told his peeps,

“You all KNOW that Kevin and I have always preferred to avoid statements to the media. We speak directly to you guys and prefer to let the music speak for itself. Although Kevin is not a free man yet, he will be soon! In the meantime, I am SO excited to share this song from HIM to you all! He done been to hell and back, He done been to jail and back… To listen to #whatif check out link in my bio and at @iamkevingates.”
