Couple Kordale Lewis and Kaleb Anthony won hearts over by documenting their days as fathers to four children in Atlanta, GA. Today they have over 169,000 followers, a book and a public voice on LGBTQ issues in America—not to mention, a presence in Acne Studios’ Face Motif campaign. “We’re the first Black LGBT family to represent a high fashion European clothing line,” they shared on social media.
Known as “Kordale N Kaleb,” the fathers’ fame all started in 2014 when they posted a picture of themselves doing their daughters’ hair to Instagram. “Being fathers is getting our daughters up at 5:30 am making breakfast getting them dressed for school and putting them on the bus by 6:30,” the caption reads.”This is a typical day in our household. It’s not easy but we enjoy every moment and eveny minute of #fatherhood. #proudfathers #blackfathers #prouddads #gaydads.” That post went viral and earned over 50,000 likes. Acne enjoyed following Kordale N Kaleb’s journeys in fatherhood too.
Acne’s fall/winter campaign erupts from its signature emoticon—which creative director Jonny Johansson calls its indifferent facial expression “ordinary.” From there, he went with a concept of capturing the average and then to one of the average modern household for their campaign. And to Johansson and the Swedish brand, the two’ dads and their family were the perfect fit.
Acclaimed Dutch fashion photographers Inez and Vinoodh shot family and individual portraits of Lewis, Anthony and kids 10-year-old Desmiray, 9-year-old Maliyah, 8-year-old Kordale Jr. and 6-month-old Kaleb Jr. Items of the collection went on sale Aug. 17, but already images from the campaign appeared on outdoor ads in cities New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Milan, San Francisco, Berlin and Hamburg.
