Kraftwerk to Release Audio/Video Documentary

Released to coincide with their forthcoming June 2017 tour, German electronic music band Kraftwerk recently announced the upcoming release of their 3-D audio/video documentary entitled Kraftwerk 3-D The Catalogue on May 26.

Kraftwerk 3-D The Catalogue is a 3-D audio/video documentary of the Kraftwerk 3-D multi-media art performances in the leading museums of the world. It features eight classic Kraftwerk albums in chronological order: Autobahn (1974), Radio-Activity (1975), Trans Europe Express (1977), The Man-Machine (1978), Computer World (1981), Techno Pop (1986), The Mix (1991) and Tour De France (2003) – filmed and recorded between 2012 and 2016 on the band’s 3-D World Tour.

The locations include MoMA (New York), The Tate Modern Turbine Hall (London), Akasaka Blitz (Tokyo), Opera House (Sydney), Norske Opera (Oslo), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris) and Neue National Galerie (Berlin). These 3-D multi-media performances have been met with universal acclaim from both music critics and art/culture curators, rightfully recognised as complete works of audio-visual art.

Kraftwerk has been long noted for its influence across many genres of modern music, including synthpop, hip hop, ambient, post-punk, techno, and club music. In January 2014, the Recording Academy honored the band with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

The band’s early influence on hip-hop is with singles “Trans Europe Express” and “Numbers,” which were interpolated into “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force, one of the earliest hip-hop/electro hits. Kraftwerk also helped ignite the New York electro-movement, which later influenced early New York-based acts Newcleus, Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince in Los Angeles, Detroit’s Cybotron and even Mannie Fresh, MC A.D.E. and Afro-Rican down South.

The band’s first UK dates since the breathtaking shows witnessed at the Tate Modern in 2013 – Parlophone are proud to announce the release of th. This is the ground-breaking 3-D Kraftwerk Concert brought thrillingly to life developed using high definition 3-D with Dolby Atmos surround sound and presented to the technological and audio standards one would associate and indeed come to expect from the pioneering Germans led by founder Ralf Hütter. Kraftwerk 3-D The Catalogue is released across a number of formats including: Blu-Ray, DVD, Vinyl, CD and Download.

The multi-media project Kraftwerk was started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. They set up their electronic Kling Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, where they conceived and produced all Kraftwerk albums. By the mid 1970’s Kraftwerk had achieved international recognition for their revolutionary electronic soundscapes and their musical experimentation with robotics and other technical innovations. With their visions of the future, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack for the digital age of the 21st century.
