Lil Wayne has been known for making controversial statements that were less than classy regarding iconic Civil Rights moments and his upcoming interview with ABC Nightline is no different.

In the interview, Lil Wayne says he doesn’t feel connected to the Black Lives Matter movement. When asked about his feelings about the worldwide group and their efforts to change the political climate in America between police and people of color, Wayne said, “What is it? What do you mean? That just sounds weird. I don’t know, that you put a name on it…It’s not a name, it’s not, ‘whatever whatever.’ It’s somebody got shot by a policeman for a fucked up reason.”

After the reporter seemingly tries to educate him on the foundation and cause of the group, Lil Wayne then expresses that he feels his wealth and popularity among whites should show that the lives of African Americans actually do matter in America.

“I am a young, black rich motherfucker,”Weezy continued. “If that don’t let you know that America understands black motherfuckers matter these days, I don’t know what it is. That man white, he filmin’ me. I’m a nigga. I don’t know what you mean, man. Don’t come at me with that dumb shit, man. My life matter. Especially to my bitches.”

When asked if he felt any connection to the group based on the cause, Wayne’s response was interesting, to say the least.

I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me. If you do, you crazy as shit. You. Not the camera. You. Feeling connected to something that ain’t got nothing to do with you? If it ain’t got nothing to do with me, I ain’t connected to it.”
