Lil Wayne Discusses His Situation with Roc Nation

About two weeks ago during a performance at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, Lil Wayne shared the news that he had joined Roc Nation and promised “we’ll talk about that later though.” Well, later has finally come.

In a recent guest appearance on Skip Bayless’ Undisputed TV show, Weezy was asked whether or not he was truly signed to Hov’s label.

“Jay is just a good guy man,” the New Orleans native said. “It was nothing but a simple thing, just friend-to-friend, ‘I just want to help you.’ That’s all it was. ‘I just want to help you, man, in any way I can.’ And right now he’s just going to help me in any way he can, and that’s just what it is.”

Skip then asked Wayne if Jigga would help him get out of his deal with Cash Money Records.

“No, we haven’t done that yet. We still working on that, that’s a situation. But like I said, Jay’s just a good guy, he just wants to help me. So he’s just going to be helping me,” Weezy says.

Wayne has had an on-going battle to leave CMR. During his performance in Austin at SXSW during the Live at the BBQ event, Weezy told fans that he was “too focused on life to worry about Birdman.”

Wayne’s announcement may end up being another false alarm. In 2015 the Young Money MC previously teased a deal with Roc Nation but it turned out, Wayne secured a partnership with Tidal.

Only time will tell if it’s true, hopefully, this means we will finally get the Carter V released.
