Lionel Richie sat down at his recent tour stop in San Diego to talk about his All the Hits Tour with Very Special Guest Mariah Carey, which is currently traveling across the U.S. In the video, Lionel talks about how he feels he’s always been on tour and never really left.
The O.G. R&B crooner singer and song writer whose sold over 100-million records spoke on his sold out tour which has been igniting stadiums throughout the summer, revealing, “People ask me over and over again, ‘ How does it feel going out on tour?’ And I say, “I never stopped touring. The tour started in 1973 (with his group the Commodores) and I’ve been on tour ever since.”
The 68-year-old hit maker is also in great shape as he gives his audience a show they’ll never forget. Lionel added, “I just start the songs off and make sure I can keep up with them. This is not just singing, this is an athletic experience. In a rehearsal like this, absolutely you can go through the whole set with no big deal. But put you in front of 30-thousand people and now sing that song with a runway as a stage. Third song if you’re in shape and then the next song. If you’re not in shape, the paramedics will be there.”
There aren’t too many people Mariah Carey would open up for but the “All Night Long” hit maker is the exception but Lionel makes it known that the fans are coming to see a show of two of the greatest entertainers in the world. He added,
“Everybody thinks their coming to my performance but no, it’s our performance. It’s one big show. It’s an appreciation. If you want to see this, come to the show and check it out.”
