Over the past decade-and-a-half, hip hop impresario Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges has accrued a well-deserved reputation as one of the most-genuine and prolific philanthropists in the entertainment industry, particularly when it comes to giving back to kids. And this past week, his Ludacris Foundation partnered with Feeding America and the Atlanta Community Food Bank to teach elementary schoolchildren healthy eating and living during Hunger Action Month.

September is the official month for drawing attention to hunger across the country. The rap mogul spoke to the children about the importance of a balanced diet before handing out gifts and food to the kids at the Carrie Steel-Pitts Life Learning Center in Atlanta. The event also included fun fitness activities.

Ludacris, along with his wife Eudoxie Bridges and mother Roberta Shields (who is the president of the Ludacris Foundation) helped served after-school meals to more than 70 children and helped with a healthy-eating activity led by registered dietitians from the Food Bank, particularly Chef Ced.

Afterwards, Luda and a fitness expert cranked up the old- and new-school music and put the kids through some fun exercises that are designed to teach kids how to develop strong muscles.

Every September, Feeding America uses Hunger Action Month as an opportunity to raise awareness about families and children who might not know where their next meal is coming from. Feeding America is the nation’s leading hunger-relief organization that serves 46 million Americans annually through a network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs.

Luda also took the occasion to bring out his two youngest daughters, Gaelle and Cai Bella, who helped in handing out bags of fresh fruits to the students as they passed by the produce table. Since 2001, The Ludacris Foundation invested more than 10,000 hours in devoted service to youth across the nation and specifically in the Atlanta area.
