Mannie Fresh Talks Birdman and Lil Wayne, “With Him, it’s Business” [Listen]

Former Cash Money Records producer Mannie Fresh shared his thoughts on Birdman and Lil Wayne’s strained relationship during a recent interview on The Come Up Show Podcast.

The multi-platinum beat maker says that he does not feel as if their issues are not personal but “it’s business with him. (Birdman) was just being a homeboy with everybody,” said Fresh, who offers a bit of advice to all rap artists. “My perception is it’s not just him. It’s for anybody that’s just involved in hip-hop, anybody that’s in business. Don’t do homeboy business. Do it the right way.”

He continued, “If you really with me, you’ll allow me to get my attorneys to make sure my money comes to me so we don’t have any misunderstandings. And we can grow old together and be friends and all of that. So I think the first thing is we gotta learn as hip-hop artists to do business the right way. We can’t keep doing if I get mad at you, I’mma diss you, I’mma curse you out. You shoot me or whatever. Let’s just go into it the right way from day one. And all of that can be resolved. If you can’t fix it, you shouldn’t be with that person.”

Weezy has had an ongoing $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money, and Mannie feels that if Wayne got the monies that are owed to him, their beef would be squashed.

“Honesty, if Wayne gets what is due to him, maybe all will be forgiven. But he deserves it. I don’t know the ins and outs of it. But I would be telling a lie if I didn’t say Wayne had that label on his back. It’s obvious.”
