It was an eventful weekend for Nelly.
TMZ reported that Nelly was arrested in Auburn, Washington and accused of raping a woman on his tour bus. The crime allegedly took place on October 7th around 3:45 am when a woman stated that the St. Louis rapper forced her to have sex with him against her will. Nelly was taken into custody though no charges have been made.
Nelly’s lawyer has released the following statement: “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation. Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”
USA Today has confirmed reports that Nelly was not charged for any crime and was released pending further investigation.
The “Country Grammar” rapper is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line and was set to perform in Ridgefield, Washington over the weekend. Upon his release, Nelly took to his Twitter to proclaim his innocence and thank his fans for their support.
