New Edition Biopic Star Algee Smith Releases Debut Listen EP [Listen]

Success post The New Edition Story biopic on BET has been great for all the actors involved but for Algee Smith, the actor who famously portrayed Ralph Tresvant, he’s taking his career to new heights. For weeks, Smith has teased fans on his Instagram about the release of his debut project and the EP is finally here.

Listen is a 6-track effort, led by the single Girl, that showcases Smith’s vocal ability over modern R&B and Pop production. Algee spoke about the project with BET explained what his inspiration was for the EP:

“This body of work was designed to do a few things,” says Smith. “Bring back a message of love and appreciation for our women, show the beauty in vulnerability from a man and give the world some damn good music. Just Listen!”

Algee Smith is working overtime to make a name for himself as a musician and an actor. His first major role following the biopic will be in the upcoming film Detroit. The film also stars Jon Boyega, Anthony Mackie, Jacob Latimore, and others. Take a listen to Algee Smith’s debut EP below and check out the trailer for the film Detroit, in theaters August 4th!
