New Jersey Rock Band 4:44 Released EP Titled ‘Jay-Z’ in Shameless Marketing Scheme

You cannot turn on the radio without hearing one of JAY-Z’s hit songs from his new album 4:44. With the newly platinum album dominating the airways and constantly trending on social media sites, JAY-Z isn’t the only one trying to cash in on his success.

According to The Key, a New Jersey-based rock band 4:44 is biting the Brooklyn native’s marketing idea by entitling their new EP Jay-Z.

Let’s put it into perspective. When a fan googles JAT-Z’s 4:44, both the rapper and rock band will return in the search. Is this a shameless marketing scheme or a completely genius idea?

The album cover art includes the phrase “This is a shameless marketing technique,” in efforts to reassure that no one affiliated with Roc Nation will be offended by their “joke.”

Although 4:44’s music is mainly just jam sessions with guitar riffs and drums solos, their EP rendered very few decent songs, if you are into punk rock music. Hov and Roc Nation have yet to make an official statement on 4:44’s marketing technique.

But with 4:44 receiving a major endorsement on Diddy’s OVO Sound Radio gig claiming that black men needed this album like they need the Bible and Quran, the rapper’s iconic album has definitely paid-off for these genius band members.
