Nipsey Hussle Mural Defaced Over the Weekend, Restored Within a Day

Outrage spread over the Internet like wildfire this past weekend after a video surfaced of a woman in Hartford, Conn. defacing a mural dedicated to the memory of slain Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle.

The woman in the video, identified as Kaitlyn Renee, is seen taking a selfie in front of the vandalized images of what appears to be a green penis and the letters “SK.” It is unclear why the woman committed the evil deed.

It only took one day after the mural was defaced, it was restored to its original state on Sunday (April 28) by local teacher and rapper known as Joey Batts.

“It was defaced yesterday,” Batts told Fox’s local Hartford affiliate Fox 61. “A couple of people got word of it and I just thought it was best to fix it.”

Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was fatally shot outside his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles on March 31. A 29-year-old man named Eric Holder was arrested and charged with murder on April 2.

Nipsey , gained initial fame for his many mixtapes, including his Bullets Ain’t Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues and Crenshaw, of which rapper Jay-Z bought 100 copies of for $100 each. His debut studio album Victory Lap was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019.
