One Love Benefit Concert Brings Love and Light To Manchester

The spirit of unity, faith, and love was in the air at the Manchester benefit concert.

On Sunday (Jun 4) evening, just two weeks after the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena killing 22 innocent concert goers and injuring countless others,  Grande returned to Manchester to not only visit the victims’ families but to also host a benefit concert to help raise money for their families.

With the help of some of music’s biggest artists including  Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell, Justin Bieber, and Coldplay, the One Love Manchester concert raised almost 3 million dollars in just three hours.

Grateful for the money raised, Grande made sure to let fans know that the effort was bigger than money, saying,”Tonight is all about Love.” With some of her biggest hits being love ballads, it seemed that her lyrics take on new meanings.

Pharrell performed his 2013 hit “Get Lucky” and rejoiced with fans as he urged them to let the world hear their resilience, but some viewers could not help but notice Katy Perry’s appropriated dress idea. Perry debuted a dress with the victims of the suicide attack faces printed on the dress which is in striking resembles the prom dress that a teen designed with the iconic photos of victims of police brutality such as Sandra Bland, Mike Brown, and Trayvon Martin.

None the less, the Manchester One Love concert showed the world how fearless and resilient Manchester is and that love truly conquers all things.
