Pharrell Williams is back on his soundtrack ish and just dropped the new video “Yelow Light” from the forthcoming Despicable Me 3 soundtrack and film. Skateboard P previously helmed soundtrack duties for Despicable Me 2 which spawned the hit single “Happy” which became a global hit.
Despicable Me 3 will hit theatres on June 30 and will feature the voices of Steve Carell, Trey Parker, Russell Brand and more. In the “Yellow Light” track, Pharrell manages to inject a few social issues in the uptempo energetic track as he sings,
“Everyone’s overdosing the blue light use/ United States of anxiety continues/ The Bratt is in his tower singing the flag burning blues/ But We feel like the knights cause we feel the screws/ We don’t care bout no fence, we don’t care ’bout no trouble/ We just wanna get in/ Let’s make out like we’re lovers.”
Pharrell slides more truths into the song and adds,
“Kill whatever you want and undo what was done/ But one thing you can’t kill is the fun/ Congratulations, woopy doo/ You control the world now/ Look at you.”
In the video Pharrell seems to be having a ball as he leads the Minions on a journey and even gets animated himself and does battle with the the film’s evil villain Balthazar Bratt. Check the video below.
