Q-Tip Requires He and Kanye West Have “A Real Serious Discussion” About His Trump Remarks

Rapper Q-Tip went on Bloomberg Politics recently and said that he needed to have a serious sit-down with his longtime friend Kanye West about his remarks about voting for President-elect Donald Trump.

“It’s difficult because I love him. That’s my brother,” the Native Tongue alumnus said. “I reached out to him and I’m hoping that we just get to talk. I just probably will leave it there because I really care about that dude, but his remarks are something that require he and I having a real serious discussion.”

On Nov. 17, Kanye announced during a California concert that he not only didn’t vote in the election but also that if he had, who he would have voted for Trump.

“I told ya’ll I didn’t vote right,” he said, “but I didn’t tell ya’ll that if I would have voted it would have been for Donald Trump.”

In another video that followed the statement, West tried to clarify himself saying, “That don’t mean that — I don’t think that — Black Lives Matter. That don’t mean that I don’t believe in women’s rights…Because that was the guy I would have voted for.”

West also addressed racism in America, speaking directly to the black people in the audience and requesting that they stop focusing on racism, despite the fact that a spike in hate crimes have occurred since Trump’s election.

“To black people, stop focusing on racism. This world is racist, ok? Let’s stop being distracted to focus on that as much. It’s just a f**king fact. We are in a racist country — period.”
