Rae Sremmurd may have the streets going crazy, but the duo explained to Snoop Dogg that it didn’t happen overnight.
In the GGN interview, Rae Sremm discussed the bumpy road to obtaining success and why they take offense to being called an overnight success.
“It wasn’t overnight, it was many nights,” Swae Lee said. “It was many wrong turns and long roads to get here, so it definitely wasn’t quick.”
In regards to their illustrious catalog of hits, the young brothers from Tupelo, Miss. credit the doubt of the haters for pushing them to always make great music.
“After we dropped ‘No Flex [Zone]’, people were saying that we were going to be one hit wonders,” Slim Jxmmy said. “That just made us come harder and come with more music and different sounds to where now when you think of us, hits are expected.”
In regards to their unique style, Rae Sremm attributes their style to vibing in the studio to the music.
“[The sound] was really nothing we set out to do,” Swae Lee continued. “We just go in the studio and vibe, we vibe until it feels good.”
In other Rae Sremm news, the two have teamed up Chief Keef for “Come Down”. The single, which will appear on Mike WiLL-Made It’s long-awaited Ransom 2 album, scheduled to drop Friday (Mar 24), marks the fifth single off of the super producer’s upcoming project.
