Rapsody continues to keep the new music rolling. After hitting us with “Fire” last week and “Mad” and “2:00 AM” featuring TDE lyricist Ab-Soul a few hours ago, the Jamla and Roc Nation artist finally revealed what the countdown on her website was really about.

The North Carolina-bred lyricist who has performed alongside greats including Aretha Franklin and was nominated for a Grammy for her work on Kendrick Lamar’s  To Pimp a Butterfly — just released her new mixtape Crown.

The 10-track project features an array of empowering and bold tracks about pride, resilience and hope. Rapsody brings the listener into personal struggles throughout her lifetime, rhyming over samples from Beyoncé’s vocals and Public Enemy’s “Rebel Without a Pause.”

Crown features appearances by Ab-Soul, Anderson .Paak and Moonchild, and has garnered much praise from Hip Hop greats like Common, Busta Rhymes and soul songstress Alicia Keys, who have both showed their support by donning the “Where’s Your Crown” filter on their Instagram pages.

In addition to dropping music all week and a new project, Rapsody also released a video for the title track of her album, which opens with a powerful monologue, which serves a perfect response to the attitudes after this tumultuous climate the country is currently in.
