Remy Ma Dethrones Nicki Minaj as Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at 2017 BET Awards

For the past seven summers straight, Nicki Minaj brought home the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award at the BET Awards. But that winning streak came to an abrupt halt Sunday night (June 25) after Remy Ma was chosen for the title for 2017.

When Remy took the stage to claim her award for the first time since 2005, she thanked her friends, family and peers. The Bronx, NY native then proceeded to recited lines from “Spaghetti”: “Y’all bitches got fat while we starved/ Shots in your ass, pads in your bras/ Y’all some liars it ain’t no facts in your songs/ And yeah that crown is coming back to the Bronx.”

Many fans believe the rhyme to be subliminal shots at Nicki. And as usual, Twitter had a lot to say about Remy winning the award. Tweets ranged from congratulations to people questioning BET’s decision.

The war between these to New York ladies has been waging on for some time now. Almost two weeks ago, the two femcees took their beef to Atlanta during the Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash on Saturday (June 17).

The plot began to thicken last week after Remy performed her Nicki diss song “ShEther” at Hot 97’s Summer Jam in New York on June 11. This time around, Nicki took it to the stage in ATL with a response by performing her Remy diss record “No Frauds.”

During her set, Nicki reportedly asked the crowd to “make some noise if you have a hating-ass, fraud-ass bitch in yo life.”
