Rick Ross Wins in Court

Chalk this one up as another W for the boss, as Rick Ross recently won  a trademark lawsuit for Mastermind. Another rapper claims that he owned the trademark and was infringed upon by the Maybach Music Group boss for the name of his sixth studio album, released in 2014. The plaintiff also claimed that his trademark was infringed upon because of Ross’ Mastermind tour and the use of the Mastermind persona.

The United States District Court for the Central District of California, however, disagreed with the plaintiff and ruled in favor of Ross and Universal Music Group for millions of dollars in damages.

“When claims are made against our clients, we litigate them very aggressively,” Ross’ attorney Leron E. Rogers said. “We are happy that the court not only ruled in Ross and Universal’s favor, but also took the extra step to cancel Plaintiff’s trademark.”

Just last week, the music mogul announced a business partnership with luxury hair care line RICH Hair Care.
